  • The Tropical Botanic Garden (JBT) belongs to the Tropical Research Institute (IICT). It is located in Belém, the noblest and most monumental part of the city of Lisbon. Created in 1906 under the name of The Colonial Garden, it was conceived as a centre of experimentation of cultures and as a space to collect information regarding tropical agriculture; it was considered an “indispensable support to the teaching activity”.

  • These are a few of the artists signatures found on pottery pieces and shards at the Roman Theater in the Alfama neighborhood. Roman armies first entered the Iberian peninsula in 219 BC, and occupied the Lusitanian city of Olissipo (Lisbon) in 205 BC. That these signatures are the markings of artists who lived more than two thousand two hundred years ago just blows my mind! I told them they would make a cool pattern for a scarf ~ not that they asked me, but that's something i would buy & wear 😎
